Zooming in: Interpreters perspective towards remote simultaneous interpreting (RSI) ergonomics

This paper examines the usability of Zoom platform from perspective professional conference interpreters. In aftermath lockdowns and travel restrictions during Covid-19 pandemic, Remote Simultaneous Interpreting (RSI) rushed into lives interpreters despite historical resistance. gave rise to development several Delivery Platforms (SIDPs). They have in time become new offices practicing interpreters, each requiring a set skills quick adaptation short period time. Zoom, although not an SIDP but rather online meeting platform, also offers interpretation features is at moment most common used for remote simultaneous interpreting worldwide. order assess by study applied USE questionnaire developed 2001 Lund based on three pillars - Usefulness, Satisfaction, Ease Use – Turkey. The findings suggest that has high scores. Coupled with this there significant appetite among towards improvement which could be indicator interpreters’ desire better existing RSI ergonomics. conclusion, points future areas required research relation ergonomics interpreting.
